I’d like to share with you my philosophy on Scuba diving, and training in particular. This will help you
determine if you think I’m the kind of instructor you’re looking for. A student/instructor relationship
is key to the longevity of your interest in Scuba Diving.

I have a personal passion for scuba diving and photography. By combining both, you quickly learn how
important it is to have good diving skills, a respect for the U/W environment and your fellow divers
Deb can tell you countless stories of divers landing on top of her as she gets ready to take a picture or
the numerous times someone “Torpedoed” in on the subject she was taking a picture of, only to scare them
off or to kick up a sand storm making the shot hopeless. It’s also very easy as a new diver to lose your
self in the enjoyment of the U/W environment and forget to check (you know important stuff like) depths,
time or remaining air supply.

I am willing to train you to be a safe and comfortable diver in control that can be self-sufficient. With
that said, I’m not saying you can or should go dive on your own. It’s always best to dive within a
close proximity of a reliable dive buddy. I will teach you how to respect your new environment, your
personal abilities and limitations and how to be a respected diver among your peers, (especially those
grumpy ones with cameras). I will use real life scenarios to help you better prepare and understand
how and when to use your newly acquired skills.

If you’re interested in learning how to become a safe Open Water Scuba Diver, wanting to brush up on
some rusty skills or looking to continue your education and advance your skills and training to the next
level. We offer what you’re looking for. You can contact me at john@thesailingsharkadventures.com

If your looking to be “cookie cut” through a class to get a “rubber stamped” C-card, you’ll want to find
another instructor.

I want you to be a safe, knowledgeable, comfortable and most of all  satisfied customer. A diver other
divers want as a buddy, someone who will enjoy diving for many years to come and want to be a
repeat customer.

I am a certified SSI instructor and SDI advanced instructor. I am also certified to teach the specialties listed
below. They are also listed in my recommended  priority, based on real diving experience. So what’s
next? Here’s a link to. “How To Start”

This is a great picture of what not to do. She has
excessive weight in her weight belt which caused her
to over inflate her BC to compensate. As you can
see, her BC is pulling so hard that it is completely off her back. “what not to wear”
